Professor Dr. Armin Bolz
Venture Advisor at SHS since 2014. Managing director and partner of Corscience GmbH & Co. KG, which he founded, together with the medical engineering company Weinmann, in Erlangen in 2001. Mr Bolz got his PhD and qualified as a professor at the University of Erlangen on the physical issues of implant development. His results led to novel coating technologies, which are still being used worldwide in the area of stent and cardiac pacemaker production. From 1995-1999, Mr Bolz was the Head of Development at Biotronik GmbH & Co. KG. In 1999, he became a professor for Biomedical Engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). From 1999 to 2001, he was the Chairman of the German Association of Biomedical Engineering (Deutschen Gesellschaft für Biomedizinische Technik), and in 2001 was also a member of the VDE board. With numerous patents, prizes and publications on biophysical and biomedical engineering topics, he has made a name for himself both domestically and abroad.
Dr. Markus Enzelberger
Dr. Enzelberger is Chief Scientific Officer of MorphoSys AG an MDAX and Nasdaq listed Munich based biotechnology company with focus on the discovery and development of antibody drugs. Since 2002 Dr. Enzelberger worked in different leadership positions within R&D. He led the discovery of MorphoSys core antibody technologies (HuCAL and Ylanthia) and worked on more than 100 therapeutic antibody programs including Tremfya (Guselkumab) from Jansen a 2017 approved antibody against Psoriasis. Dr. Enzelberger completed his post-doctoral studies with Steven Quake at the California Institute of Technology in the field of microfluidic biological assays, where he also co-invented Fluidigm’s key technologies. Further Dr. Enzelberger studied chemistry and received a PhD in Natural Sciences from the Technical University of Stuttgart. He wrote his diploma thesis at Bayer and his PhD at BASF on the use of enzymes in chemical processes.
Professor Dr. Christian Hamm
Venture Advisor at SHS since 2012. Director of Medical Clinic I (Cardiology and Angiology) of University Hospital Gießen and Marburg. In addition Prof. Dr. Hamm acts as Medical Director and Managing Director of Kerckhoff-Klinik, Heart and Thorax Center Bad Nauheim. After studiying medicine at the University of Hamburg he was visiting researcher at the University of Cape Town (South Africa) and worked in the department of cardiology at the University Hospital Eppendorf in Hamburg. Habilitation in internal medicine. University professor at the University Hospital Eppendorf and at the Justus-Liebig-University in Gießen, respectively. Amongst others he was Member of the Executive Board of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). Furthermore, he is president of the German Society for Cardiology (“Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kardiologie- Herz- und Kreislaufforschung e.V.”, DKG).
Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Hans Henkes
Venture Advisor at SHS since 2012. Medical Director of Hospital for Neuroradiology at Katharinenhospital Stuttgart. After studying human medicine and radiology in Berlin Prof. Dr. Henkes further qualified in diagnostic neuroradiology at the University Hospital Homburg/Saar. He worked first as an assistant doctor, later as senior physician at the Clinic for Radiology and Neuroradiology at Alfried Krupp Hospital in Essen. In addition he led the neuroradiolgy division of Robert Janker Clinic in Bonn.
Venture Advisor at SHS since 2016. Carla Kikken-Jussen, VP Medical Devices, has over 30 years of experience in the medical device industry covering medical device clinical research and European Regulatory Affairs. Her professional background is in legal.
Carla’s industry experience includes her work with the Technical Committees and Working Groups of the European Commission in various areas.
She served on the board of the Life Sciences Limburg Group and is a member of the Dutch Standardization Institute (NEN), the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS) European Advisory Committee, the Orange County Regulatory Affairs organization, Member of the Board of Certification for CMDA (Certified Medical Device Associate) clinical Evaluation.
Carla is Chairperson of the Board of Vimecon GmbH
Venture Advisor at SHS since 2017. Mr. Westerteicher headed Philips’ global Hospital to Home business until he left the company at the end of 2016. His responsibilities there included the development of eHealth / telemedicine solutions as well as market development in Europe, Asia and other countries outside the USA. Since 2017 Mr. Westerteicher has been working independently with his consultancy C West Consulting in the area of eHealth with a special focus on Population Health, Care Coordination and Telehealth.
He obtained his degree in electrical engineering at the University of Stuttgart in 1980 and has since gained extensive experience in the area of medical electronics over the course of his 36-year career at Hewlett-Packard, Agilent and Philips. He has held leadership positions in the development of patient monitoring and anesthesia systems solutions. Mr. Westerteicher has specialized in the development and market launch of telemedicine solutions and services over the past 20 years.
His responsibilities have included the development of innovative solutions and the evaluation of treatment structures. He has contributed to pioneering telemedicine studies including TEN-HMS (EU), Whole System Demonstrator (UK), Carme (Spain), Advancing Care Coordination & TeleHealth / ACT (EU), etc. as well as publications on the subject.
He was a member of the industry association COCIR in Brussels and headed the Telemedicine Focus Group.
