As part of our annual project 2021, SHS supports the educational project “Schülerlabor Neurowissenschaften” in Tübingen

The renowned Hertie-Institut Tübingen together with the Neurological Clinic of the Universitätsklinikum Tübingen form the “Centre for Neurology”. The centre was created with the contract signed in 2001 between the Gemeinnützige Hertie-Stiftung and the state of Baden-Württemberg, the Universität Tübingen and its medical faculty, and the Universitätsklinikum Tübingen. This interaction of public resources and private foundation funds is unique in Germany.

The Hertie-Institut is dedicated to research into the brain as well as the diagnosis, prevention and therapy of neuronal diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, vascular diseases, strokes, multiple sclerosis and brain tumours.

In addition to research, it is also an important concern of the Hertie-Institut – together with the Centre for Integrative Neuroscience (CIN) – to get young people excited about science and thus to promote the next generation of scientists. To this end, the Schülerlabor Neurowissenschaften offers schoolchildren from the southwest of Germany the opportunity to participate in workshops, seminars and hands-on experiments on the fascinating topic of the brain.

“The Schülerlabor Neurowissenschaften is a remarkable example of future-oriented research for young people in the field of neuroscience. We are pleased to be able to support such a worthwhile educational project,” comments SHS partner Manfred Ulmer-Weber.

“We are delighted that SHS Gesellschaft für Beteiligungsmanagement supports us in our educational mission. Without donations of this kind, our work would not be possible,” says Prof. Dr. Ilg, head of the school labs.
